AutoToolist is a free tool-finder for DIY car repair. We help home mechanics figure out exactly which tools they need before starting a job — so you're not halfway through a brake job wondering if you own the right socket.

How It Works

Select your vehicle's year, make, and model, pick the repair job you're tackling, and we'll show you the complete tool list — from basic hand tools to any specialty items specific to your car. Every recommendation links directly to where you can buy the tool if you don't already have it.

Why We Built This

We've all been there: you watch a YouTube video, think "I can do that," buy a couple parts, and then realize mid-repair that you need a tool you don't have. A trip to the auto parts store later (or two), and a 2-hour job becomes an all-day project.

AutoToolist exists to solve that problem. We've cataloged the tool requirements for over 75 common repair jobs across hundreds of vehicle variations, so you can prep everything before you pop the hood.

What We Cover

Our database includes tool lists for jobs like brake pad replacement, oil changes, spark plug swaps, suspension work, belt replacements, and dozens more — with vehicle-specific variations where it matters (because a Toyota Camry and a Ford F-150 don't always need the same tools).
